To better serve our claimants and prevent Unemployment Insurance fraud, the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) is partnering with ID.me to verify claimant identification.
ID.me is free for claimants to identify themselves and is a secure method for validating personal information, ensuring your unemployment claim account is not accessed by someone else.
ID.me offers support, including video chat with trained staff members to help you quickly and easily verify your identity.
When you are asked to verify your identity, you will be directed to the GDOL ID.me validation page and given steps to follow.
Upon successful verification, you will receive an email within 24 hours advising of any further steps. Your identity must be verified by the deadline to avoid further delay or denial of unemployment benefits.
How do I verify my identity for the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL)?
Tips and best practices for selecting and uploading acceptable identity documents can be found in the ID.me article Troubleshooting Identity Verification.
If you have been locked out of your My UI portal, you will receive an email from the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) directing you to a web address to verify your identity with ID.me.
Once you have navigated to the ID.me verification website, click the green Verify with ID.me button to start the identity verification process. Please continue to follow the instructions until you have verified your identity.
After you have verified your identity, either online or with the help of an ID.me Trusted Referee, you will receive another email from the GDOL within 48 hours that provides specific instructions on how to unlock your account and reset your PIN. You may need to check your spam/junk email folder for this message.
