Equifax Cybersecurity Incident

On September 7, 2017, Equifax announced a cybersecurity incident potentially impacting approximately 143 million U.S. consumers. States send claimants’ personally identifiable information (PII) to Equifax through the Federal Claims Control Center for purposes of processing claims for unemployment compensation. Equifax has confirmed the system that houses unemployment insurance (UI) data does not appear to have been impacted by this cybersecurity incident.
