GDOL Career Center Consolidations

Rome Career Center

As we continue to modernize the Georgia Department of Labor, one of the areas that we have focused on is our delivery of services. With 39 points of contact at career centers statewide, we continue to monitor how many constituents take advantage of our in-person services. Although our desire is not to restrict or minimize opportunities, we must take into consideration the individuals who desire to access our services digitally rather than in person.

The walk-in traffic at a few of our career centers has dramatically decreased over the years. With the rising costs of real estate, it is prudent to dedicate our resources to having more individuals available to serve hardworking Georgians by phone and online, rather than maintaining facilities that people are visiting less frequently. By reducing our physical footprint and being fiscally responsible, we are directly investing and reinvesting back into the communities and people we serve.

With the exception of the Eastman Career Center, whose final day of services was Monday, June 17, 2024, all Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims were transferred to the following locations on June 20, 2024:
