Spirit Airlines Worker Assistance

The Georgia Department of Labor is providing support and resources for workers affected by the recent closure of Spirit Airlines operations in Georgia.

Approximately 650 employees in Georgia, where Atlanta serves as the airline’s primary hub, were impacted by layoffs effective May 3.

Impacted workers can access support through the following resources:

  • Unemployment Insurance (UI): Impacted workers may be eligible to apply for unemployment insurance. To learn more or apply, visit your nearest career center or visit the MYUI Claimant Portal to get started.
  • U.S. Department of Labor Resource Page: The U.S. Department of Labor has provided a dedicated resource page for affected employees at DOL.gov/Spirit.
  • Spirit Airlines Employee Resources: Spirit Airlines has created an internal employee resource page with Rapid Response information and support services. Impacted employees should check their internal communications channels for access details.
  • American Job Center Services: Workers can connect with local American Job Center locations for reemployment assistance, job search support, career counseling, and workforce services.

Our team at the Georgia Department of Labor remains committed to helping impacted workers access the resources and support they need during this transition.
