Workforce Solutions for Individuals
The Georgia Department of Labor is committed to assisting individuals who are laid off, looking for a first job, changing careers, or looking for career advancement with comprehensive employment services. Employment services are available through a statewide network of Georgia DOL career centers.
Some of the high value, customized services Georgia DOL provides to individuals at no cost include the following:
- Online services, including filing an Unemployment Insurance (UI) claim, certifying for weekly UI benefits, checking the status of benefits payments, referral to a job opening, and starting a work permit
- Access to job openings in Georgia, the Southeast, and the nation
- Self-service resources, including books, videos, pamphlets, phones, copiers, and fax machines
- Computers with Internet access, and job search and word processing software
- Job search assistance and job referrals
- Labor market information for career exploration, including demand industries, average salaries, “hot” jobs, and more
- Résumé development assistance
- Employment counseling
- Workshops on a variety of employment-related topics, including effective job search, interviewing, résumé development, coping with job loss, and financial management
- Training and education resources, financial aid options
- Specialized assistance for veterans, migrant and seasonal farmworkers, and other eligible individuals
- Assistance for ex-offenders, including federal bonding
- Job development

- Referral to partner and community service providers
