Federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance

Individuals who are unemployed or partially unemployed as a direct result of severe storms and tornadoes may be eligible for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA).  DUA benefits are funded by the federal government to assist individuals after a disaster.  Individuals in the authorized counties who were directly affected by the disaster must first apply for regular unemployment insurance (UI) on the  Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) website or in-person at any GDOL career center.

Upon the declaration of a disaster by the President of the United States, individuals in the affected counties have 30 calendar days to file for DUA benefits.  DUA applications can be filed at any GDOL career center.  The career centers serving areas damaged by the severe storms and tornadoes can be found by clicking the affected counties below.  The deadline date is listed.

Individuals in the following counties have a filing deadline date of February 27, 2017 to apply for DUA:

Berrien, Cook, Crisp, Dougherty, Turner, and Wilcox
